This morning commute the FieSTa popped up the icon we all love to hate. This will mark the first time in my entire vehicle ownership history where a MIL has occurred without me immediately/already knowing what it’s about.

The scantool is at home, I might pop home on lunch just to have a peek at what the codes say. (~34,000 miles no noticeable running issues, fuel economy as expected, etc. etc.)

40,000 in mine and the only time it threw a code at me was because I was teaching the girl how to drive manual and she stalled it three times so it lit up the “maintenance needed” wrench icon.....Or it was calling her a spanner. It is pretty british....

I got the Spanner once, first week I owned the car... missed a hard shift from 3-4, went 3-2 instead... reved it right up to about 8000. No harm, no foul, just pissed off the computer ;) (I quickly learned to trust the transmission and that I didn’t need to be forcing it into gears, never had that happen again)

HEMIWagon finally threw a CEL last night. Felt like it was cutting power and refusing the shift getting anywhere near WOT, turns out the Cam Position Sensor is on the fritz. Should be replaced tonight and ready to terrorize the streets again.

I don’t know if that’s a good idea. Remember what happened last time?

Haha do you have that saved?!

But really, if Mercedes wants to install an engine pre-heater thats cool. Just dont expect me to replace a heater for something that literally runs on explosions.

Nah, GIS your name and SC400 and it’s like the first result. I just haven’t taken the piss out of you in months. Figured it was overdue.

Coolant bypass valve.

Edit: Change my mind

Cannister purge valve, check to see if the fuel tank has actually collapsed as well. TSB is to replace the cannister purge valve, fuel tank, fuel pump, & charcoal cannister.

haha, actual code is Poo7B, Charge-cooler temperature sensor range/function (high). This indicates that the charge temperature sensor idicated a temperature ABOVE the measurable range (250 degrees C(?)). It’s most likely the sensor or the harness as everything seems to be running as expected and fuel economy has not changed from expected. (interittant failure?)

Actual code: P007B; Charge-cooler temperature sensor function/range (high). The sensor indicated a temperature above the measurable range. Probably bad sensor, or wireing issue, as anything regularly heating the air coming out of the intercooler to that point should be effecting performance/running.
